Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from therapy?

You can expect that I will try to understand, support and gently challenge you. I will make every effort to create a safe environment that will foster healing and growth. I will collaborate with you to make our work useful and relevant to your needs.

What will you expect from me?

I expect honesty and engagement with the process. If you want something, please ask me. If something is not working for you, let me know so we can adjust our approach accordingly. People who find the greatest success with therapy approach it as a commitment to improving their lives. The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it.

How long is a typical course of therapy?

The course of therapy depends on your goals and needs. Some people enter therapy wanting to address a specific issue. With focused work, they may notice improvement within months. For people seeking to address a wider array of issues, the work may be ongoing over a longer period of time.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are 50 minutes unless otherwise stated. Couples work, EMDR and crisis situations often benefit from longer sessions, which may be scheduled if we determine more time would be useful.

How often will we meet?

One session per week is typical. More frequent sessions may be scheduled as needed.

Do you offer phone or video sessions?

Yes, I work with people throughout California and New York via phone and video sessions.

Do you accept insurance?

While I do not accept insurance directly, I will be happy to provide you with a paid invoice or "superbill" to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider to determine your "out of network" benefits.

What is your fee?

My fee is $300/50 minute individual session, $350/50 minute couples, family or child session.

How do I pay?

I generally accept payment by credit card at the time of session, unless other arrangements are made in advance.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please cancel at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled session to avoid paying the full session fee.

If you have further questions, please call, send me a message or schedule a free phone consultation. I would be happy to clarify anything I can, and discuss your concerns and your hopes for therapy.
